The Value of Nurses

I recently found this graphic and wanted to share it with you guys- whethere you're a nurse or not. These are definitely some interesting stats. And it shows how valuable nurses really are and how much they are needed.

  5. Hey - neat blog! There are some cool stats on that post, but I wonder how recent they are. Lately I cringe when I read about nursing shortages. There is no widespread, nationwide shortage of nurses.

There are tons of unfilled positions, but they're mostly going to stay unfilled as hospitals tighten belts and brace for the changes associated reform legislation in an already very uncertain economy. In many areas, new grads are having a much more difficult time finding jobs than previously anticipated. And that leaves currently employed nurses to work harder, doing more with less.

With all of that said, I love being a nurse and a blogger. I hope you enjoy both of those roles and learn as much from doing them as I have!

  6. Im gonna be a minority in the field... a "Murse" (male Nurse)graduating May 1st and hope to start at a level 1 trauma ED! Cant wait. I am a little concerned that even with the shortages, hospitals are not hiring like they should be. Thats why the patient ratio is as much as 8-9 to 1 in many places. Look at magnet status hospitals... most I know of are trying to keep it at 4-1 (where it should be)

  7. cool poster..but the only thing that I don't necessarily agree with is getting into the nursing profession for money. If you go into the field being just all about the money, you will get burned out real fast in nursing. I don't think nurses get paid enough for the things that they have to deal with. Nursing school does not nearly prepare students about the "real world of nursing".

  8. Where they learn techniques on how to improve
their patient's mobility, relieve their pain and treat temporary or permanent disabilities, through various therapeutic techniques and procedures. A couple of major accrediting agencies encompass most of those. Physical therapist or physiotherapist is a really captivating career in the field of medicine.
